On the afternoon of April 1, 2019, Vice-President Zheng Qinghua hosted a special meeting on Silk Road engineering, scientific technological knowledge service in Conference Room 5. Deans directors from the School of Electronics Information Engineering, the School of Foreign Studies, College of Continuing Education, College of International Education, Network Information Center, Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges the university library attended the meeting, together with representatives from Aopeng Education.

At the meeting, Vice President Zheng Qinghua listened to the overall report of the Network Information Center on the construction of the Silk Road Training Base of the International Knowledge Center of Engineering, Science Technology (IKCEST) of UNESCO. Under the framework of IKCEST's tasks, the Silk Road Training Base has developed the platform of "Silk Road Service System of Engineering, Scientific Technological " (in English, Russian Arabic). It has established a database of over 2.3 million thematic data, offered 15 offline training courses based on the advantageous disciplines of Xi'an Jiaotong University, such as the Innovative Application of Internet of Things, the Practical Innovation of Artificial Intelligence etc, 84 online training courses with 15,000 users. Meanwhile, the Silk Road Training Base has achieved new breakthroughs in international talent training by offering overseas training in Thailand, Russia Kyrgyzstan, which is an essential step for China's engineering education to step out to better serve the world.

After listening to the report, vice president Zheng Qinghua pointed out that the building of UNESCO IKCEST Silk Road Training Base, as an important measure for Xi'an Jiaotong University to implement One Belt One Road Initiative the Silk Road University Alliance, is a key step towards internationalization. The achievement of the Silk Road Training Base is universally recognized, its experience can be summarized from three aspects: first, Xi'an Jiaotong University has a highly-efficient leading team work mechanism, which guarantees the effective implementation of various issues; second, through the pioneering, innovative leading actions consensus, One Belt One Road Initiative Silk Road University Alliance are well implemented, which steadily translates ideas into reality; third, attentions should be firmly focused on the three core tasks of platform building, resource development personnel training. The tasks for 2019 has been prescribed, president Zheng Qinghua calls on all relevant departments to strengthen their ideological attitude, carry out detailed building tasks by actively coordinating cooperating with each other, promote the building of silk road training base to higher level. At the same time, he also issued specific tasks such as Internet Education of Artificial Intelligence Application, mutual development of MOOC courses with the Ministry of Education of Thailother countries.

At the end of the meeting, each department discussed in detail their own construction tasks for 2019, decided on the schedule of 29 specific tasks such as data resources collection, international training, development of knowledge service, platform development, integration of headquarters sub-centers, publicity promotion etc.
