The 54th IKCEST Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology Development was held in Xi’an Jiaotong University(Medical Campus) from May 18th to 26th, 2019. It was co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) under the Auspices of UNESCO and Xi’an Jiaotong University, and was organized by IKCEST Silk Road Training Base. A 100 foreign students from Xi’an Jiaotong University registered for the workshop. They are from 34 Belt-Road countries such as Pakistan, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, etc.
This programme lasted for about 9 days some of the most experienced teachers from Xi’an Jiaotong University gave lectures on the topics of Digital and 3D Printing Technology in Oral Medical Applications, Beijing Opera: Artistry of Performers, Rheumatic Disorders, The Advance in The Treatment of Diabetes, Aging and Brain Research, The Trend of Infectious Diseases Control and Prevention along Silk Road, A Magic Journey in Gynecology & Obstetrics, and Advancement on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma. The clear and vivid lecturing and examples made the topic deep-going but easy to understand. The students benefited a lot from it and had active discussion with the teacher after the lectures.
In addition, in order to deepen the students' understanding of the application knowledge of 3D printing in medicine, this programme arranged some technical visits that are closely related to the courses. On the afternoon of May 24th, foreign students visited the Weinan Centre Project of National Engineering Research Centre of Rapid Manufacturing. The Centre was jointly built by High-tech Zone in Weinan and the research team of Prof. Lu Bingheng from the National Engineering Research Centre for Rapid Manufacturing. The construction of Weinan Centre will gather 3D-printing-related enterprises to form a complete industrial chain so as to build a national demonstration base for industrialization of 3D printing digital manufacturing. During the visit, the staff explained relevant knowledge to foreign students and patiently answered questions of trainees, which won wide acclaim from trainees.
Up till recently, Silk Road Training Base has held 54 IKCEST Training Programmes for Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology Development, which have cultivated more than 4,000 foreign students from more than 100 countries and export-oriented staff from Chinese companies. As an important mission of the IKCEST Silk Road Training Base, this training programme plays an important role in cultivating talents and promoting the Belt and Road Initiative.
