The 57th IKCEST Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science Technology Development was held in Xi’an Jiaotong University from July 5th to 8th, 2019. It was co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences Technology (shortened as “IKCEST”) under the Auspices of UNESCO, Xi’an Jiaotong University Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities, was organized by IKCEST Silk Road Training Base. Over 40 entrepreneur representatives from Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities participated in this training programme.
On the morning of July 5th, an opening ceremony was held. Liu Chang, Deputy Director of Knowledge Centre Office of General Administration Department of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) Director of Division of International Cooperation of the IKCEST, Luo Tieying, President of Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities, Chen Zhifeng, official of Royal Thai Consulate-General, Xi’an, China, Di Dehai, Dean of Continuing Education College of Xi’an Jiaotong University, all the students attended it. Chen Ling, Vice Dean of Continuing Education College of Xi’an Jiaotong University hosted the opening ceremony.
Dean Di Dehai, on behalf of Xi’an Jiaotong University, extended a warm welcome to the delegates of Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities leaders of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Dean Di pointed out that with the strong support of Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities, IKCEST Silk Road Training Base has successfully held the 41st IKCEST Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science Technology Development at Rangsit University, Thailin September 2018. He said that the cooperation between Xi’an Jiaotong University Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities this time aims to make the delegation learn about the new trends of science technology economic development in China, which gives full play to the social functions of the university, promotes the development of science technology, education, culture, economy other fields in ThailChina. Dean Di also expressed his hope that the delegation could learn from this training continue to carry forward the spirit of Silk Road, contribute to the development of both China Thailand.
Liu Chang extended a warm welcome to the Thai friends. She gave an introduction to IKCEST, elaborating on its background, main tasks international influence. She pointed out that IKCEST has been committed to building IKCEST Silk Road Training Base holding off-line training programmes in various forms, themes fields. Up till recently, it has cultivated more than 4,000 students from over 100 countries. Besides, she gave a detailed introduction to the curriculum content of this training, hoped that the students could broaden their horizons learn something from the two wonderful lectures six practical visits. She also mentioned that Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science Technology Development co-hosted by IKCEST, Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities Xi’an Jiaotong University was an important measure to promote China-Thailrelations, which promotes the joint cooperation development of China Thailin the fields of education, culture, science technology.
Chen Zhifeng said that the current business cooperation between ThailXi’an was very close, especially in the areas of marine industry, tourism service industries. He pointed out that both China Thailwere presently at an important stage of economic transformation upgrading improvement of people’s living standards, in the future, digital economy innovation cooperation would become a new shining spot for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, the cooperation between China Thailwill get closer closer.
In her speech at the opening ceremony, Luo Tieying first expressed her gratitude to Xi’an Jiaotong University IKCEST for providing this training opportunity, then made a brief introduction to Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities. President Luo said that as the starting point of the Silk Road, Xi’an has a long history rich culture, is also at the forefront of China in the fields of science technology, culture, economy transportation. She hoped that China Thailwill have closer cooperation exchanges in the future, so as to promote the economic growth enhance people’s friendship of the two countries.
This training was themed on “Artificial Intelligence” “Big Data” with major lectures given by Professor Tian Feng Professor Sun Hongbin, two senior professors from Xi’an Jiaotong University. Students learn about Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Application of Big Data, visit the Big Data Lab to learn about China’s most advanced science technology. In addition, in order to further enhance students’ understanding of the management operation of Chinese enterprises, cultivate localized talents for countries along the Silk Road, promote international exchanges between China Silk-road countries in talents, technologies, products resources, this training combined theory practice, arranged students to visit Chinese famous industrial bases such as Xi'an International Trade & Logistics Park, Weinan 3D Printing Industry Cultivation Base, Jingdong Cloud College (Xi’an Aerospace Base) Talent Ability Empowerment Centre, Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base. Besides all these visits, the students also participated in the Signing Ceremony of “Bring in” “Going out” under the Belt Road Initiative & China-ThailEntrepreneurs Symposium with Chinese Chamber of Commerce leaders famous entrepreneurs. Through corporate visits symposium, the students got a deep understanding of China’s current level of technological development the status quo of cross-border e-commerce development, accumulated valuable experiences for the development of their own countries enterprises.
Up till recently, 57 Sessions of IKCEST Training Programmes for Silk Road Engineering Science Technology Development have been held by Silk Road Training Base,training more than 4,000 foreign students from over 100 countries staff from some export-oriented Chinese Companies. As an important mission of the IKCEST Silk Road Training Base, this training programme plays an important role in cultivating talents promoting the Belt Road Initiative. In the Meanwhile, it also made important contributions to the economic social development of European, Asian African Belt-road countries regions.
The International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences Technology (shortened as “IKCEST”) is a category II centre under the auspices of UNESCO. IKCEST was established on June 2, 2014. The Chinese Academy of Engineering is responsible for the operation management of the IKCEST. IKCEST aims to provide knowledge-based services at global scale in the form of consultancies, scientific research education for policy-makers engineering science technology professionals in the world, with particular reference to the developing countries. In February 2017, based in Xi'an Jiaotong University, IKCEST Silk Road Training Base was established, which aims to train more engineering technological talents for Belt-Road countries.
