The 72nd IKCEST Training Programme for Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology Development themed on New Infrastructure Construction was held in I-Harbour Campus of Xi’an Jiaotong University from July 20th to 23rd, 2020. It was co-hosted by the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) under the Auspices of UNESCO and Xi’an Jiaotong University, and organized by IKCEST Silk Road Training Base. 52 foreign students from 8 Belt-road countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, etc. in Xi’an Jiaotong University registered for the workshop.
The training programme lasted for four days, and the following lectures such as Current Situation and Development Trend of Modern Energy Science and Technology, Past, Present and Future of High Voltage Engineering, Introduction to Machine Learning, Big Data Processing and Deep-learning, Development Trend of Rail Transit Technology, 5G in a Nutshell, Brief Introduction to Robotics, Shaanxi: Home to Chinese Civilization were given by the experienced professors in Xi’an Jiaotong University. Focusing on New Infrastructure Construction and also covering Chinese culture courses, this programme aimed to help broaden foreign students’ horizon and make them have an in-depth understanding of Chinese culture and the New Infrastructure Construction in China.
Till now, the IKCEST Silk Road Training Base has successfully held 72 training programmes. This training programme, as an important work of IKCEST Silk Road Training Base, will play an important role in training more talents for the Belt-road countries and better serving the development of the Belt and Road Initiative. It also made important contributions to the economic and social development of European, Asian and African Belt-road countries and regions.
The International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (shortened as “IKCEST”) is a category II centre under the auspices of UNESCO. IKCEST was established on June 2, 2014. The Chinese Academy of Engineering is responsible for the operation and management of the IKCEST. IKCEST aims at providing knowledge-based services at a global scale in the form of consultancies, scientific research and education for policy-makers and engineering science and technology professionals in the world, with particular reference to the developing countries. In February 2017, based in Xi'an Jiaotong University, IKCEST Silk Road Training Base was established, which aims to train more engineering and technological talents for Belt-Road countries.
