On the morning of May 12, Xi 'an Jiaotong University held a specialized cybersecurity conference aimed at implementing the relevant decisions, deployments, anddocument guidelines on cybersecurity within the education system, while providing a comprehensive review of the university's recent cybersecurity efforts. Yan Junjie, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice President, attended and presided over the conference. Heads of member units of the Leading Group for Cyberspace Security and Informatization, together with persons-in-charge of all relevant units across the university, were present at the meeting.
Suo Zhihai, Director of the NetworkandInformation Center, provided a detailed report on current achievements, existing risks and challenges, as well as future strategies and key initiatives in cybersecurity work. The report covered critical aspects including theestablishment of a ledger for school network and information technology asset registries, protection of critical information systems, standardized operation and security management of core data centers, prevention and response to common security threats, and cybersecurity education for faculty and students.

Yan Junjie put forward three requirements for further advancing the university’s cybersecurity work. First, all staff must fully raise their awareness and recognize the critical importance of cybersecurity from a political perspective. Second, targeted measures must be fully implemented. Prior risk prevention shall be prioritized with preventive measures moved forward to the front line. All risks and vulnerabilities identified in routine inspections shall be rectified without delay to ward off potential hazards beforehand. Third, cross-departmental coordination must be fully realized. A sound working mechanism shall be established to facilitate information exchange, resource sharing and joint actions among all units, so that the whole university can coordinate as a unified entity to advance cybersecurity work.
In recent years, the university has attached great importance to cybersecurity work by continuously improving its cybersecurity management system and upgrading technical protection measures, striving to build a robust data and network defense line for the construction of a smart campus. Going forward, the university will further innovate its security governance model and develop a regular, full-process and all-factor cybersecurity working system. Security management will be integrated into every stage and link of smart campus development, data governance, system operation and maintenance, as well as application services, to underpin the high-quality development of all undertakings of the university.
