On November 29, the finals and award ceremony of the 2024 First Shaanxi Province Higher Education Institution Staff Cybersecurity Skills Competition, organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, were held. A team representing Xi'an Jiaotong University participated in the competition, consisting of Zheng Liuxiao, an engineer from the Network Information Center, Zheng Lei, an engineer, and Song Yunpeng, an associate professor from the School of Cyberspace Security.

The competition, themed "Forging a Network Shield, Safeguarding Educational Innovation," is divided into two stages: the preliminary and the final. The final stage adopts an offline team-based Attack with Defense (AWD) practical competition. The Xi'an Jiaotong University team stood out from 66 university teams and 236 faculty members through the preliminary selection and the final competition, winning the group first prize. Associate Professor Song Yunpeng also secured the individual third prize.

In recent years, the Network Information Center has actively explored the construction of cybersecurity teams and the cultivation of capabilities. By strengthening cooperation and exchanges with the School of Cybersecurity, as well as teachers and students in computer-related disciplines, it has continuously innovated its working models. It has actively carried out technical training, offensive and defensive drills, and independent vulnerability discovery, among other activities, to promote development through practice. By pooling efforts from multiple parties, it has consolidated the level of cybersecurity services at the university, providing a safeguard for the institution's development.
