The Network and Information Center has launched a series of fire safety training activities

To further strengthen the security foundation of network and information work, enhance the faculty and staff's awareness of fire safety responsibilities, and comprehensively improve the emergency response and mutual rescue capabilities in dealing with incidents such as fires, the Network and Information Center recently collaborated with the university's Security Department to organize a series of fire safety training activities at the small building of the Network and Information Center in Xingqing Campus. The event was chaired by Liu Jun, Deputy Director of the Network and Information Center.

As the core position for campus network security and informatization construction, the Network and Information Center is responsible for critical functions such as campus data storage and network operations and maintenance. Its characteristics, including dense server rooms, concentrated electrical equipment, and 24-hour uninterrupted operation, make fire safety the "lifeline" for ensuring the stable functioning of network and information work. Based on this, this event is conducted in a "theory + practice" format, with content that is both systematic and practical.

During the training session, Sun Zhengtuo, the head of the Fire Safety class of the university's security department, delivered a comprehensive and systematic knowledge lecture on the theme of "Fire Safety for All, Life First—Safe Use of Fire and Electricity." Combining the practical work of the Network and Information Center, he covered seven key aspects, including the characteristics of fires, the operation and use of firefighting facilities, and how to self-rescue and escape. Through shocking fire case videos and clear, intuitive on-site diagrams, Captain Sun provided an in-depth yet accessible analysis of the dangers posed by fire hazards and the importance of prevention and control measures. In particular, he emphasized the critical points of daily fire safety management, such as equipment inspections and line maintenance, given the characteristics of the Network and Information Center, which has densely packed server rooms and numerous electrical devices.

To ensure that the faculty and staff truly master the skills of using firefighting equipment, after the theoretical lecture, a fire extinguishing drill with firefighting equipment was conducted in an orderly manner at the square on the first floor of the small building of the Network and Information Center. Staff from the university's security department first demonstrated the standard operating procedure of "lift, pull, grip, and press" in detail, combining it with the performance characteristics of dry powder fire extinguishers, and thoroughly explained the precautions during the operation. Subsequently, they organized the staff into groups for hands-on practice. Under the one-on-one guidance of the security department staff, everyone took turns picking up the fire extinguisher, aimed at the base of the flames, and performed the operation correctly, successfully extinguishing the simulated fire points, thereby effectively mastering the skills of using the fire extinguisher. At the same time, the security department staff also utilized the existing firefighting equipment in the small building of the Network and Information Center to conduct detailed operational demonstrations and explanations, ensuring that every staff member could proficiently master the use of firefighting equipment.

The launch of this series of fire safety training activities is an important initiative by the Network and Information Center to implement campus safety work arrangements and strengthen the security defense line of the network information front. After the event, the faculty and staff expressed that the content was closely aligned with their actual work, combining both theoretical depth and practical applicability. It not only effectively addressed gaps in their fire safety knowledge but also significantly enhanced their practical capabilities in responding to fire emergencies.
