A Pakistani Student’s Chinese Dream
2018-07-02

"I love China, I love XJTU." This is the deep love to Xi’an Jiaotong University delivered by Uzair, an international student from Pakistan. On July 2nd, Uzair gave us a wonderful presentation in Room 1400. Uzair is a graduate student of the School of Electrical Engineering. In just two years at XJTU, he has been awarded several honorary titles: XJTU International Students Ambassador, XJTU Outstanding Student etc. He is also a member of China Volunteer Association, and has published various articles on B&R in China Daily. Now, out of his love for China, he is working hard to learn Chinese.

Standing on the stage, he proudly told everyone that he has been to 32 cities in China. During his traveling, he learned about Chinese traditional culture, history and language, stories of various dynasties. He talked with different Chinese people and listened to various dialects. He always believes in "learning by seeing while walking thousands of miles".

During his speech, Uzair introduced the history and culture of his country with a fascinating video, and introduced the customs of Pakistan with photos. At the same time, he never forgets to mention the friendship between China and Pakistan and emphasizes the importance of One Belt One Road Initiative.

Uzair said that he has benefited a lot from One Belt One Road Initiative, especially during his two years' stay in XJTU. He has attended various topics of IKCEST Training Program for Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology, including Management, Engineering, Chinese culture and other interactive programs. Uzair said that these training programs not only increased his knowledge about China, but also promoted his academic achievement. He strongly recommended that all foreign students attended as many as possible such training programs, and said that was the best platform to broaden horizons and increase knowledge, and also to increase social connections.

At the end of his speech, Uzair said that he liked President Xi Jinping and his thoughts, and suggested that all students should dream big, think big, do something for humanity, and spread love and peace in the world.

By the joint effort of Xi’an Jiaotong University and International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology of UNESCO, the IKCEST Silk Road Engineering Science and Technology Development Training aims to provide a series of special engineering and technological training to foreign students from Silk Road countries and technical and management staff from Chinese companies that aims to invest in Silk Road countries. The training will be in the form of class lecturing, company visiting, face-to-face communication, and practices. By class lecturing and on-line and off-line communication, trainees will be expected to master up-to-date knowledge such as internet plus, intelligence manufacturing, bio-medicine, big data, cloud-computing etc. The horizons of the trainees will be greatly broadened, and this will in return promote cultural, educational and technological communication between China and Silk Road countries. Up till recently, we have successfully held 40 different training programs for over 2000 foreign students from over 100 countries and some Chinese companies who aim to extend their operation in Belt-Road countries.
